HUGO SELENSKI

 YET ANOTHER DAY IN HUGOVILLE
Back to Full Blog

IT APPEARS AS THOUGH "VALLEY" IS VERY ANGRY WITH THE OUTCOME OF HUGO'S FIRST TRIAL. UNFORTUNATELY, THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM HAS MANY LOOPHOLES IN IT. AS A RESULT, MANY INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE CONVICTED OF CRIMES WHILE THE GUILTY ONES WALK FREE. THE BEST EXAMPLE IS O.J. SIMPSON. DO YOU THINK HE WAS INNOCENT? WAS JUSTICE SERVED IN THAT CASE?
BECAUSE THE OUTCOME WAS NOT WHAT YOU WANTED OR EXPECTED DOES NOT MEAN THAT ATTY. FANNICK DID NOT DO HIS JOB. ATTY FANNICK IS AN EXCELLENT ATTORNEY AND PREPARED HIS CASE AS NECESSARY. THE FACT THAT MANY EXPERTS WERE PAID FOR THEIR WORK JUST PROVES THAT ATTY. FANNICK WAS READY FOR THE WORST POSSIBLE OUTCOME.

I guess that while people may be upset with the outcome of the trial, the verdict wasnt an unexpected one. Most of the interviews and people who I have spoken with, based on the witnesses testimony, the jury had no other option to return the verdict that they did. If you have prosecution witnesses, most of whom had plea agreements, and other professional testimony from 2 expert witnesses whos facts contradicted the others, what is a jury supposed to think?

As far as innocent people convicted goes, it is a horrible thing. I guess it's just the fact that the prosecution proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt. It goes both ways...letting a guilty person free and on the other side, letting an innocent person do time.

O.J. Simpson had a superb defense team. Did they let a guilty man go? Possibly. I remember on the one Court TV show, either with Nancy Grace or Catherine Crier, that O.J. Simpson took a polygraph (lie detector) test the day he was brought in for questioning and he failed it. They were like, well there is something for all the believers in his innocense. I know that they (lie detector tests) are inadmissable in court because they can't always be accurate, but still that goes to show you something. But the defense team did their job...and the most famous line went something like this: If the glove doesnt fit, you must acquit.

But then there are cases, like the Robert Durst case. A heir to a million dollar empire who admitted to killing a neighbor and I dont know if he cut up the body, but he put it in a garbage bag and got rid of it and he was still found not guilty. He was also thought to be involved with other disappearances, including an estranged wife back in the early 80's.
